As a result of a voluntary agreement dated February 8, 2019, The Greater Kansas City Metro Area Local 67 of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) will conduct a new election of officers (listed below) on or before August 30, 2019 under the supervision of the Secretary of Labor and in accordance with Title IV of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (LMRDA), and insofar as lawful and practicable with the Constitution and Bylaws of the APWU. The terms of office will run for the remainder of the current terms that will end in December 2021.
Nominations will be accepted from the floor at a special nomination meeting at the date, time and place indicated below.

Self-nominations are permissible and a second is not required. Any member in good standing may also submit written nominations prior to the nomination meeting. Written nominations will be read at the nomination meeting and must be received by Local 67 Secretary/Treasurer Sharon Curtis no later than 5:59 p.m. on March 25, 2019. Written nominations may be mailed or delivered in person to the Local 67 office located at 3824 E. 16th St. Kansas City, Missouri 64127 or faxed to (816)444-9902. Nominations by email will not be accepted.
To qualify as a candidate, members must be a member in good standing in accordance with Article VI, Section 1 of the Local 67 constitution and by-laws which provides the nominee must be a full dues paying member in good standing for at least 12 months (at least February 2018-February 2019) immediately prior to the nomination meeting. Candidates must also meet the requirements of Article 10 of the APWU Constitution which states any member who has held a managerial or supervisory position shall be ineligible to hold office for one year from the time such position is vacated. Also, any member who has currently submitted an application for a managerial or supervisory position is not eligible to hold office unless the application is removed.
To be eligible for a craft position, in addition to the above requirements, the candidate must be a member of the craft to which they are being nominated. The member making a craft nomination must be a member in in good standing of the craft they are nominating to.
A brief meeting for all nominees will be held immediately following the nomination meeting to discuss campaign rules. Any nominee who is unable to attend the meeting may send a representative or will be provided the information at a later date. Candidate acceptance forms need to be submitted to the election judges by March 29, 2019. Candidates also need to be prepared to submit their 350 word candidate statements to the Editor for the Midwest Torch by April 5, 2019.
The election will be conducted by mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed on or around April 15, 2019 and tallied on May 13, 2019. Additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate notice which will be mailed to all Local 67 members at a later date.
