September 5th 2018: Executive Board Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by President Antoinette (Toni) Robinson.
Officers Present: Secretary/Treasurer, Sharon Curtis, Clerk Craft Director, Sharon Al-Uqdah, Maintenance Craft Director, Jerry Stanley, Clerk Chief Steward tour 1, Lydia Block, Chief Steward tour 3, Darcy Wood , Chief Steward stations and branches, Charles Clay, Maintenance Chief Steward B, John Bustamante, MVS Chief Steward A, Jeff Amey, MVS Chief Steward B, Ismael Gutierrez, Associate Office Coordinator, Tom Robison.
Officers excused: Paulette Lindsey, Jamila Shakur
Officers absent: Richard Blake, Bryan Garrett
Sharon Curtis reported an erroneous deposit to the Marvin L Smith Scholarship Fund when reconciling the bank statements. $150.00 was deposited in error from a different account number. She immediately called the bank to correct. She also reported that members who did not turn in PS Form 3971 for the National Convention after Tuesday morning will not be on payroll until the next payroll period.
President Robinson reported for Paulette Lindsey that invoices for the National pins has not been received and monies owed for pins, shirts and shuttle services will be calculated at a later date. The Fall Conference will be held in St. Louis Mo on October 12th thru the 14th at the Embassy Suites Airport. There will be a retirement dinner honoring Teddie Days who will be resigning. Please let the President or Vice-President know if you will be attending.
Lydia Block made a motion to purchase Teddie Days a retirement watch not to exceed $300.00. Motion was seconded and passed.
Old Business: President Robinson reported that a copier for SFS has been purchased but has not been delivered. She will contact SFS when the printer arrives. She also reported that she is still seeking bids for landscaping around the building to avoid any damage to the new siding. There was also discussion on the Xerox printer lease agreement for an old printer stored at the Hall. President Robinson will investigate on terms of the agreement and if the lease can be terminated. She also reminded all stewards of the upcoming OWCP training on September 13th from 8 am to 5 pm. Lunch will be served. Stewards will receive 8 hours of LWOP to attend this training.
President Robinson informed the Board of an upcoming event, 51st Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, “Defeat Hate – Vote” to be held October 13th 2018 at Crown Center. Darcy Wood made a motion to purchase a quarter page ad at the cost of $140.00 to support the banquet. Motion was seconded. Lydia Block made a motion to amend the cost to $275.00 for a half page ad. Amendment was seconded and passed. Motion carried.
New Business: Darcy Wood made a motion to spend no more than $2000.00 on mailings to the membership concerning November 6th 2018 elections. Motion was seconded and passed.
